This purpose of the research were; 1) to know the improvement of communication ability of math the students through think pair share cooperative learning by using ular tangga media than using conventional method. 2) To find out the students’ attitude toward the teaching and learning process of mathematics through think pair share cooperative learning. 3). To investigate the process of the problem solving made by the students. This research was conducted by Quasi-Experiment. The population of this research was the second year students of SMPN 4 Bireuen. The sample of this research were two clasess, namely VIII1 as experimental class through think pair share cooperative learning and VIII2 as control class through conventional method. The sample was used purposive sampling. The research instruments were used; math communication ability test and attitude scale. The statistical formula of this research was Uji-Test in order to find the improvement and the students’ response and problem solving made by the students. The result showed that: 1) can improve the students’ math communication through think pair share cooperative learning by using ular tangga media than using conventional method. 2). The students’ attitude in learning mathematics through think pair share cooperative learning by using ular tangga media was positive. 3). The process of problem solving were made by students in experimental class was correct and accurate suitable with the procedure than the students in control class.
